A 24-year-old Israeli man was moderately wounded on Sunday in a stabbing near the village of al-Auja, north of Jericho in the Jordan Valley, according to the Israel Defense Forces and emergency responders.
Magen David Adom paramedics and IDF personnel treated the victim at the scene for a penetrating injury before evacuating him to Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem.
Israeli security personnel launched a hunt for the terrorist, the IDF said, setting up road blocks and conducting searches across the surrounding area.
The military said it remained in close contact with local residents and security officials throughout the ongoing operation.
In a later update, the IDF said that troops continued searching the al-Auja and Jericho areas on Sunday for the terrorist who carried out the stabbing attack. Soldiers were questioning suspects and gathering intelligence in an effort to locate the assailant.

The Israel Police said that officers from the Jordan Valley station and Judea and Samaria District forensic investigators opened an inquiry into the stabbing, collecting evidence at the scene.
A preliminary investigation found that the victim had stopped his vehicle on Route 90 near a shopping center and was standing outside when a suspect attacked him from behind, stabbed him in the shoulder and fled, police said.
This is a developing story.
